Position Title: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Facility: Private 27-Hole Premier Country Club Location: Central Arkansas Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent Position Summary The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent plays a key leadership role in the daily maintenance and long-term conditioning of a premier 27-hole private golf facility in Central Arkansas. The course features championship level “Champions” ultra-dwarf bermudagrass greens and 419 bermudagrass fairways, tees, and roughs. This position assists the Director of Agronomy and the Golf Course Superintendent in executing agronomic programs, managing personnel, ensuring high standards of playability and aesthetics of the golf course and grounds for the membership and the Simmons Bank Championship. Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising all aspects of golf course maintenance operations across 27 holes.
Supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff; provide clear direction and ensure safe, efficient work practices.
Participate in daily scheduling and assignment of crew responsibilities.
Oversee mowing programs, cultivation practices, topdressing, and course setup to ensure championship-level playing conditions.
Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair.
Support tournament preparation, special events, and seasonal transition practices.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and pesticide application laws.
Maintain accurate records related to chemical and fertilizer applications, equipment use, and safety training.
Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent regarding course conditions, staffing needs, and project progress.
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in golf course maintenance as an Assistant or 2nd Assistant Superintendent.
Working knowledge of management and turf practices of turf.
Arkansas pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Demonstrated leadership ability with strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by course operations.
Valid driver’s license.
